Methods of Recycling
Recycling is something that is essential for the world. It is the process of gathering and sorting out waste materials or used items, processing
them and then using the resulting product. In the current state of affairs, a practice as such is not helpful; it is essential! Consider the amount of people inhabiting the earth. Now, think of how much waste each person generates in one day. This waste is mostly non bio-degradable, which means that it remains on the earth, instead of decomposing into its natural elements. So, the waste generated by all the people in the world ends up collecting in the environment, resulting in poor and polluted surroundings. The disposal of this waste causes yet more pollution of the air and water. There have to be ways to reduce this pollution, or else it will result in catastrophe for our future generations. Recycling is one such solution.
There are many ways in which one can recycle. For instance, the most basic thing one can recycle is paper. Paper is made by cutting down trees, and processing the wood. This leads to deforestation, which further leads to an array of misfortunes such as soil erosion and pollution. Instead of that, it is better to recycle.
All our electronic items, such as computers, television sets, mobile phones, music players, etc. have a life period. After that time, they are more or less useless, and this is when they end up being stored in our basements, attics, garages and lofts. Also, the resources used to make these electronic items are exhaustible. This means that they cannot be found readily. So, instead of stacking up a whole lot of clutter in your home, the wise thing to do would be to hand in these electronic items for recycling. Many companies now take in such items, and use the materials to build newer products.
The main purpose of recycling, as mentioned above, is to reduce waste. This can be done in many ways. For example, purchasing rechargeable batteries instead of normal ones is a smart idea. Rechargeable batteries can be reused many times over, reducing the pile up of used batteries in the environment, which is a major cause of pollution. Such batteries also eliminate the worry of carrying extras, as the same set can be charged and used.
Another way to help reduce waste is to use cloth bags while shopping, instead of plastic. Plastic has proved to be one of the most harmful man-made items, something that has polluted the land and water, and killed thousands of living creatures. It is non bio-degradable, and toxic.
People have now also turned to composting as a way to recycle. In households, people gather all their degradable waste and bury it in the ground. This waste decomposes and results in more fertile soil, which in turn helps in the growth of the flora.
It is important for each and every one of us to integrate recycling methods in to our lives. We must all lend a hand, and help create a cleaner environment.
